Diamond smuggling from Dubai to Baku prevented

Officers of the General Customs Administration for Air Transport have prevented an attempt to smuggle diamonds across the state border, Report informs, citing the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan.

During a search of the carry-on baggage of two Azerbaijani citizens arriving on a Dubai-Baku flight, 120.49-carat diamonds, concealed from customs control and hidden in a speaker (or sound amplifier), were discovered in the laptop bag of one of the passengers, while certificates and cellophane packaging for the diamonds were found in the suitcase of the other passenger.

An investigation is underway.
