Surgeon found guilty of patient’s death sentenced

The Nasimi District Court sentenced surgeon Sanan Mehdiyev for the death of 30-year-old Nazrin Mansurlu, who died shortly after he performed a septoplasty, oxu.az informs. He was sentenced to two years in prison and will serve his sentence in a penal colony.

On January 13, 2025, the Nasimi District Prosecutor’s Office opened a criminal case under Article 314.2 of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan (negligence resulting in the death of the victim through negligence) in connection with the death of Nazrin Mansurlu.

According to case materials, the woman underwent surgery at a clinic on January 3. Some time after the surgery, her condition worsened and she was hospitalized in another clinic, where she died on January 12.

Nazrin Mansurlu’s case sparked widespread public outcry after her relatives publicized the incident on social media. The woman fell into a coma several days after the operation, and her family accused the surgeon of negligence. The clinic where the surgery was performed, for its part, denied all accusations.
