A former official’s petition for early release denied

Gultekin Sadigova, the former deputy head of the Neftchala District Executive Authority, convicted along with the former head of the district, has once again attempted to secure parole. As reported by Oxu.Az, Sadigova appealed to the court to have the remaining eight months of her sentence suspended. However, both the trial court and the Baku Court of Appeal rejected the petition, finding no grounds for a mitigation.

Earlier this spring, the convicted woman had already petitioned the court for a transfer to a district-type correctional facility, but her request was also denied.

The former head of the Neftchala District Executive Authority, Ismayil Valiyev, his deputy, Gultekin Sadigova, and other officials were charged with corruption five years ago. According to the final court decision, G. Sadygova received 4 years and 6 months of imprisonment.
