A court sentenced a former diplomat to five years in prison

Former diplomat Ramiz Veliyev, detained by the State Security Service (SSS), has been sentenced, oxu.az reports. By the decision of the Narimanov District Court, he was sentenced to five years in prison. As an additional penalty, he was disqualified from holding certain positions for two years.

Former diplomat Ramiz Veliyev, who worked as an adviser at the Azerbaijani Embassy in Egypt, was detained on December 8, 2024, during a SSS operation.

He was charged under Article 308.2 (abuse of office) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
