Sentences handed down for individuals accused of smuggling 326 million manat

The final court hearing was held in the criminal case against individuals identified as suspects during the State Security Service investigation, oxu.az reports. The verdict was read out at the Sumgayit Court of Grave Crimes, presided over by Judge Fahmin Humbatov. Elvin Shirinov was sentenced to 8 years, Zohrab Gidayatov to 9 years, and Gachgyn Humbatov to 7 years and 6 months in prison. The defendants were charged under Articles 192.3.2 and 206.3.2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Zohrab Gidayatov organized the export of goods from the country belonging to various legal entities and individuals, allegedly registered in the names of Elvin Shirinov and Gachgyn Humbatov. He provided customs authorities with forged documents, claiming that the specified individuals were the manufacturers of these products, and carried out smuggling without declaring products worth more than 326 million manat.
