Seventeen people arrested for promoting gambling on social media

Law enforcement officers in Azerbaijan conducted an operation against individuals promoting illegal gambling on social media. According to Report, the operation was organized by the Main Department for Combating Cybercrime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the State Agency for Antimonopoly Control and Supervision of Consumer Market under the President of Azerbaijan.
During the joint operation, it was discovered that several influencers were distributing prohibited advertisements for online casinos and betting games on Instagram, TikTok, and other social media platforms. As a result, 17 individuals involved in promoting such pages and content were identified and taken to the Main Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Measures against those detained have been taken in accordance with the law. The Ministry of Internal Affairs reminded that advertising and disseminating information about illegal gambling is a violation of the law and carries serious penalties.
