A sentence handed down for a man accused of multiple serious crimes

The trial of Ilham Mammadov, who is charged under ten articles of the Criminal Code, including extortion with threats, murder, and fraud, and who is also wanted by Interpol, was held, APA reports. The hearing was held in the Lankaran Court of Serious Crimes, presided over by Judge Esmira Mammadova.

According to the verdict, the defendant was sentenced to 18 years in prison.

The defendant, Ilham Mammadov, was found guilty of beating businessman Ilham Taghiyev, deputy chairman of the Congress of Azerbaijanis of the Kherson Oblast of Ukraine, to death, as well as robbery, theft, and fraud.

He was wanted in Ukraine and detained in Lankaran in 2015.
