An attempt to smuggle a large consignment of psychotropic medications prevented

As part of a series of measures carried out by officers of the General Customs Administration for Air Transport, an attempt to smuggle a large consignment of medications containing psychotropic and potent substances into the country was thwarted, Report informs, citing the Press and Public Relations Department of the State Customs Committee (SCC) of Azerbaijan.
During the inspection of the carry-on baggage of Azerbaijani citizens arriving on the Tabriz-Baku flight, images of medications were detected on a monitor and a stationary X-ray machine.
In accordance with the law, 8,430 units of medications in 77 boxes, as well as 15,070 tablets—a total of 33 types of medications containing psychotropic and potent substances—were discovered in the carry-on baggage during the customs inspection.
An investigation is underway.
