A man accused of murdering a friend given a harsh sentence

The Lankaran Court of Grave Crimes has sentenced Ruslan Mamizade (born 2003), accused of murdering 24-year-old Elnur Jafarov, Oxu.Az reports. The incident occurred on October 17 of last year in front of a chess school in Lankaran.

According to the case file, Ruslan was friends with Elnur, but later began to suspect that Elnur was harassing a family member with his messages. Consequently, Ruslan arranged a meeting with Elnur, during which he suddenly attacked him and stabbed him multiple times. Elnur, who was engaged, died from his wounds.

The court found R. Mamizade guilty under Article 120.2.4 (murder with particular cruelty) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan and sentenced him to 17 years in prison.
