Sentences handed down for individuals accused of financing terrorism

The Baku Court of Grave Crimes concluded the trial of Khagani Omarov, Anar Salamzade, and Elchin Azizov, accused of financing terrorism, initiated by the State Security Service (SSS), Oxu.Az reports. The trial was presided over by Judge Nigar Imanova. Following the presentations, the defendants were given final statements.

Following the court’s deliberations, the verdict was announced: Khagani Omarov received 10 years and 6 months, Anar Salamzade received 11 years, and Elchin Azizov received 10 years in prison.

The aforementioned individuals were detained during an operation conducted by the SSS. The investigation established that they transferred funds to certain individuals operating abroad for the purpose of supporting terrorism. The detainees were charged under Article 214-1 (financing of terrorism) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
