Large-scale drug circulation disrupted

Officers from the Main Anti-Drug Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Azerbaijan continue operations to combat the illegal trafficking and sale of narcotics. During an operation in the Astara district, 43-year-old Anar Novruzov, a previously convicted felon, and his 39-year-old accomplice, Taleh Mammadov, were detained.

According to Oxu.Az, citing the MIA, a total of 62 kilograms of marijuana laced with psychotropic substances was seized from the detainees. In their testimony, they admitted to smuggling the drugs from a stash in the Astara district through an Iranian citizen, whose identity is being established by the investigation, and planned to deliver them to various addresses for financial gain.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
