An indictment was read out in a terrorism financing case

The Baku Court of Grave Crimes held another hearing in the criminal case brought by the State Security Service (SSS) of Azerbaijan against Namik Nabiyev, who is accused of financing terrorism. As reported by Oxu.Az, the state prosecutor read the indictment at a hearing chaired by Judge Nigar Imanova.
According to the case materials, Namik Nabiyev transferred $28,479 to the bank cards of various individuals at various times during the Syrian conflict beginning in 2022. These funds were sent to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS), an internationally recognized terrorist organization, and facilitated the acquisition of weapons and other means for terrorist activities.
The next court hearing is scheduled for December 23.
The State Security Service charged N. Nabiyev under Articles 167-3.1 (possession of religious extremist materials) and 214-1 (financing terrorism) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan. If the sentences are partially combined, he faces a prison sentence of 10 to 14 years.
