An appeals court dismissed the appeal of a customs official accused of smuggling

The Baku Court of Appeals dismissed the appeal of Farid Usubov, the former head of the port customs post, who was arrested in a smuggling case. According to oxu.az, the appeal was dismissed.

Farid Usubov previously served as the head of the port customs post at the Main Customs Administration for Maritime Transport and Energy Resources.

Several days ago, he was detained by the Anti-Corruption Main Directorate under the Prosecutor General’s Office. Farid Usubov has been charged with large-scale smuggling, as well as other counts of the criminal case.

Usubov is the son of Lieutenant General Jabrayil Usubov, former deputy head of the Special State Security Service.
