The trial of a businessman who embezzled half a million manat

The trial of Zamig Khankishiyev, accused of embezzling a large sum of money from citizens, has begun in Baku. As Oxu.Az reports, the defendant’s personal information was clarified during a preparatory hearing at the Baku Grave Crimes Court, chaired by Judge Elnur Nuriyev.

It was decided that the criminal case will be sent to court without changing the pretrial detention measure: the defendant will remain under police supervision but will not be arrested.

Zamig Khankishiyev is accused of embezzling over 500,000 manat from three individuals. He was brought into the investigation following complaints from victims to the Baku Main Police Department. Initially, the defendant was in custody, but after partial compensation for damages, his pretrial detention measure was changed to police supervision.

Khankishiyev was charged under Article 178.4 (large-scale fraud) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
