Drug courier suspects detained

Officers from the Garadagh District Police Department detained 49-year-old Salman Mammadov and 42-year-old Tural Rahmanov during the latest operation in the district. According to Oxu.Az, citing the press service of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Internal Affairs, 8 kg 380 g of marijuana, 2 kg 560 g of opium, and 200 methadone tablets were found on the detainees and in a minibus belonging to Rahmanov.

In their statements, the suspects admitted to purchasing the drugs for resale from an Iranian citizen they met on social media. The identity of the Iranian supplier is currently being determined by investigators.

The investigation revealed that the suspects used intercity passenger transportation as a cover for their drug courier activities.

A criminal case has been opened, and the investigation is ongoing.
