Smuggling of a large consignment of medications from Turkey prevented

As a result of comprehensive investigative and customs control measures carried out by Balakan Customs Administration officers, the illegal import of a large consignment of medications and medical supplies into Azerbaijan was prevented, Oxu.Az reports, citing the State Customs Committee. At the Mazymgara customs post, a vehicle transporting sunflower oil from Turkey to Azerbaijan was inspected using a stationary X-ray machine. Due to suspicious images detected on the monitor, a customs check was conducted on the cargo.

During the inspection, 83,000 units of medications and medical supplies were discovered that had not been declared to customs authorities.

An investigation is underway.
