An Iranian citizen suspected of organizing the smuggling of a large consignment of narcotics has been detained in the Fuzuli district of Azerbaijan. According to Report citing the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 32-year-old Iranian citizen Ehsan Kakavand was detained as a result of operational activities carried out by officers of the Main Anti-Drug Directorate.
41 kg of marijuana laced with psychotropic substances, as well as 2,988 methadone tablets, were seized from him.
An initial interrogation revealed that the drugs were illegally transported to Azerbaijan from the Iranian city of Parsabad.
A criminal case has been opened, and a court has ordered the detainee to be remanded in custody. Investigative operations are currently underway to identify other members of the criminal group, both within the country and abroad.
