17 kg of marijuana seized from drug courier

Officers from the Khatai District Police Department conducted another operation to combat drug trafficking, Report informs, citing the Azerbaijani Ministry of Internal Affairs. During the operation, 42-year-old Orkhan Gurbanov, a previously convicted felon, was detained. 17 kg 330 grams of marijuana were found and seized from the Land Rover he was driving.

Three more individuals were detained in separate operations on suspicion of drug trafficking: 36-year-old Emin Bayramov, 42-year-old Ilkin Alizade, and their acquaintance, 36-year-old Amil Ibayev. A total of 21 kg of marijuana and 2 kg 809 grams of heroin were seized from them.

The detainees stated in their statements that they purchased the drugs for sale in the capital.

Criminal cases have been opened on these charges, and the investigation is ongoing. Since the beginning of this year, employees of the Khatai District Police Department have seized 112 kg of various types of narcotics from illegal circulation.
