The trial of Anar Mehdiyev, the former chairman of the board of Azersheker LLC, along with Ruslan Aleskerov and Avaz Suleymanov, accused in the same case, has begun in Baku, Oxu.Az reports.
The hearing is being held at the Baku Court of Grave Crimes under the chairmanship of Judge Vugar Seyidov. The first hearing was postponed because the defense attorney for one of the defendants failed to appear. The next hearing is scheduled for January 21.
All three have been brought into the investigation by the Anti-Corruption Main Directorate under the Prosecutor General’s Office. A. Mehdiyev served as chairman of the board of Azersheker LLC until 2024.
They have been charged under Articles 179.4 (large-scale embezzlement), 313 (official fraud), and 308.2 (abuse of office resulting in grave consequences) of the Azerbaijani Criminal Code.
Azersheker LLC and Dastan Agro LLC have been recognized as victims in the case. Since the damages caused have been compensated, the defendants have been placed under police supervision.
