Iranian drug couriers detained in Lankaran

During an operation to combat drug trafficking in Lankaran, city police officers detained 46-year-old Ilyas Ismayilov and 41-year-old Veli Abdulov, both previously convicted, Oxu.Az reports, citing the press service of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Internal Affairs. More than 18 kilograms of marijuana, heroin, opium, and methamphetamine, 427 psychotropic pills, and five electronic scales were seized from the detainees.

It was established that they received the drugs for delivery to the specified addresses on behalf of Iranian citizens, whose identities are being established.

A criminal case has been opened, and the detainees have been remanded in custody. The investigation is ongoing.
