A verdict handed down for those accused of plotting an assassination attempt on a religious figure

The final court hearing was held in the criminal case against Agil Aslanov and Jeyhun Ismayilov, who were detained during a State Security Service (SSS) investigation. They were accused of plotting a terrorist attack against a member of one of the religious communities operating in Azerbaijan, oxu.az reports.

The verdict was announced at the Sumgayit Court of Grave Crimes, presided over by Judge Nuraddin Huseynli. According to the court’s ruling, Agil Aslanov was sentenced to 17 years in prison, and Jeyhun Ismayilov to 14 years.
