The pretrial detention of Islam Rzayev, the former head of the Balakan District Executive Authority, who was detained during an operation conducted by the State Security Service (SSS), has been extended. According to APA, the Sabail District Court reviewed the investigative body’s motion.
The court decided to extend Islam Rzayev’s pretrial detention for an additional three months.
The former head of the executive authority was detained last October, and the court ordered him to be held in pretrial detention for four months.
He is charged under Articles 179.3.2 (embezzlement on an especially large scale) and 311.3.2 (repeated bribe-taking) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
