A person who distributed offensive photos and videos of students from the Law Faculty of Baku State University (BSU) on social media has been detained, Oxu.Az reports, citing the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The suspect was identified and detained by officers of the agency’s Main Department for Combating Cybercrime.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs noted that additional information on the case will be provided later.
It was previously reported that photos of BSU students were used to create offensive content. According to available information, the students’ photos and videos, taken from public profiles, were altered using various editing techniques, including artificial intelligence tools, and distributed in a derogatory manner. The victims of such publications were primarily female students studying at the Law Faculty. The rapid creation and deletion of these pages demonstrates the scale of the incident and the fact that individuals with systemic and potentially dangerous intentions are behind these actions.
