The final court hearing in the criminal case against Azer Gasimli, director of the Institute of Political Management, took place, 1news.az reports. The verdict was read at today’s trial in the Baku Grave Crimes Court, presided over by Judge Telman Huseynov.
According to the verdict, Azer Gasimli was sentenced to 12 years in prison. The state prosecutor had requested a 13-year sentence.
Political scientist Azer Gasimli was arrested on December 8, 2024, in response to complaints. He was found guilty under Article 182.3.2 of the Criminal Code (extortion by threats, committed for the purpose of obtaining property on a large scale).
