Cyberpolice arrests man who blackmailed women using AI programs

Officers from the Main Directorate for Combating Cybercrime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have arrested another man who edited photos and videos of citizens in an offensive manner, distributed them on social media, and demanded money to remove them, Oxu.Az  reports, citing the department.

As a result of operational and technical measures carried out by cyberpolice, 21-year-old Mirhuseyn Atakishiyev, a suspect in the above-mentioned actions, was detained.

It was established that Atakishiyev received photos and videos of women from the social media platforms TikTok, Instagram, and Telegram. He then edited these images using artificial intelligence (AI), added offensive captions, and re-distributed them on social media through fake accounts. He demanded various amounts of money from the victims to stop further distribution of the content and to delete the photos and videos.

The Main Directorate has opened a criminal case on this matter. M. Atakishiyev has been charged under the relevant article of the Criminal Code and has been brought into the investigation as a defendant. The court has ordered his detention.
