The former director, who embezzled 200,000 manat has filed a cassation appeal

A cassation appeal has been filed against the decision against Elmar Gasimov, the former director of the Nizami branch of the State Insurance Agency. As Oxu.Az reports, the cassation appeal is being heard in a trial presided over by Supreme Court Judge Ilkin Radzhabov.

According to the indictment, Elmar Gasimov, through abuse of office, caused material damage to the State Insurance Agency in the amount of over 200,000 manat.

He was charged under Articles 179.3.2 (large-scale embezzlement or misappropriation), 193-1.3.2 (large-scale legalization of criminally obtained property), 308.2 (abuse of office resulting in grave consequences), 309.2 (exceeding office resulting in grave consequences), and 313 (official forgery) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The State Insurance Commercial Company was recognized as the victim in the case.

The Baku Court of Grave Crimes sentenced E. Gasimov to seven years in prison; he was arrested in the courtroom. The Baku Court of Appeals dismissed his appeal.

During the Supreme Court hearing, the cassation appeal was withdrawn. Now, the cassation appeal has been refiled with the higher court.
