The investigation into the criminal case initiated by the Anti-Corruption Main Directorate under the Prosecutor General’s Office against Nasir Nasirli, Chairman of the Fatmay Municipality in the Absheron District, based on materials received from the Ministry of Justice of Azerbaijan, has been completed, Oxu.Az reports, citing the Prosecutor General’s Office. During the investigation, reasonable suspicions arose that Nasirli, while holding this position, orchestrated the sale of state property between 2020 and 2024. This involved a tract of municipal land with a total area of 13 hectares. By law, such plots are subject to mandatory rigorous appraisal and sale at a price no lower than the average market price. However, the enterprising municipal head, abusing his official powers, intentionally included knowingly false information in official documents. The land was sold for a pittance, causing significant damage to the local budget.
Based on the evidence collected, he was charged under Articles 308.2 (abuse of office resulting in grave consequences) and 313 (forgery) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The defendant has been placed under police supervision and suspended from office.
The criminal case has been sent to the Absheron District Court for trial.
