In Azerbaijan, 76 million manat worth of drugs were seized from illegal circulation in three months

From January to March 2026, law enforcement agencies in Azerbaijan uncovered 2,443 criminal cases related to drug trafficking and drug control during comprehensive operational and investigative activities, Oxu.Az reports, citing a report from the permanent working group of the State Commission to Combat Drug Abuse and Illegal Trafficking of Narcotic Drugs. Of these, 549 cases involved the illegal sale of drugs, 1,889 involved the illegal acquisition and possession of drugs, four involved the illegal cultivation of narcotic plants, and one involved other related crimes.
As part of these cases, 2,896 kg, 808 g of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, as well as 17 tablets, were seized from illegal circulation. The seized items included marijuana (2 tons 477 kg 653 g), heroin (171 kg 664 g), opium (57 kg 520 g), hashish (160 kg 241 g), other narcotics (6 kg 536 g), and psychotropic substances (23 kg 192 g).
Fifteen cannabis plants were also discovered and seized.
The total value of the seized narcotics and psychotropic substances is estimated at 75,978,000 manat.
