Illegal import of jewelry from Turkey to Azerbaijan prevented

Officers from the Main Customs Administration for Air Transport of the State Customs Committee (SCC) of Azerbaijan, during operational operations, prevented an attempt to illegally smuggle jewelry, medications, and cigarettes across the customs border. As reported by Oxu.Az, citing the SCC press service, during the inspection of the baggage and carry-on baggage of two Azerbaijani citizens arriving on a Trabzon-Baku flight, a stationary X-ray machine detected suspicious outlines on the monitor. This served as the basis for an in-depth customs inspection.
A search of suitcases, carry-on luggage, and a baby stroller revealed gold jewelry weighing 334 grams, concealed from customs control and not declared in writing or verbally, along with 8 types of medications (2,264 tablets, 84 capsules, 47 vials, and 14 injections), as well as 1,200 cigarettes that did not undergo mandatory labeling.
An investigation is underway into this matter.
