Trial of former expert at the Ministry of Science and Education, accused of large-scale fraud

The trial of Magsud Nasirov, a former expert at the Ministry of Science and Education of Azerbaijan, has begun. He is accused of large-scale fraud by promising to recognize diplomas of individuals educated abroad in our country, as well as selling cheap housing. As reported by Oxu.Az, Magsud Nasirov testified at a hearing chaired by Judge Vugar Seyidov of the Baku Court of Grave Crimes.

He stated that from 2017 to 2018, he worked at the Ministry of Science and Education as an expert on the recognition of foreign diplomas, and from 2018 to 2024, he held various positions in the State Tax Service.

The next court hearing is scheduled for June 4.

Based on the evidence collected, Magsud Nasirov has been charged under Articles 178.3.2 (fraud causing significant damage) and 320.1 (forgery of official documents) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

There are six victims in the case, and the damages amount to over 400,000 manat.
