Website directors arrested

Farhad Guliyev, founder of the YouTube channel Kanal 21, and Zamig Guliyev, head of the website bakuxəbər.az, have been arrested. According to Oxu.az, the Ganja Grave Crimes Court has ordered two months of pretrial detention for each of them.

Along with them, Ilgar Aliyev, Rahman Aleskerov, and Ilkhami Nasibov, who posed as journalists, have also been detained. The court has ordered their pretrial detention as well.

The aforementioned individuals are reportedly accused of extorting money through threats against several individuals. The investigation into the criminal case, opened under Article 182 of the Criminal Code based on the facts collected, is ongoing.
