A Georgian citizen accused of premeditated murder will be extradited from Germany to Azerbaijan, Oxu.Az reports, citing the Azerbaijani Prosecutor General’s Office. In accordance with the requirements of the European Convention on Extradition, competent German authorities granted the Prosecutor General’s Office’s request to extradite Georgian citizen Elshan Hasan oglu Shamilov.
The investigation established reasonable suspicion that E. Shamilov, acting in collusion with Afgan Aliyev and Hidayat Hasanov, committed a robbery of an apartment and the murder of a person on July 30, 1993, and other crimes at various times, together with these individuals.
A decision was made to prosecute Shamilov, and on May 8, 2025, he was placed on the international wanted list for evading investigation. Following an operational search, Shamilov was detained in Germany.
