The court sentenced the spy detained by the State Security Service

The trial of Siyafat Farzaliyev, charged with treason and illegal possession of firearms components, concluded. As reported by Oxu.Az, citing APA, the case was heard in the Grave Crimes Court of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, presided over by Judge Faig Heydarov.
According to the verdict, Farzaliyev was sentenced to 15 years and 6 months in prison.
According to the case materials, the defendant was recruited by representatives of a foreign intelligence service to collaborate covertly in exchange for financial compensation. Under their instructions, Farzaliyev intentionally carried out espionage activities to the detriment of the sovereignty, territorial integrity, state security, and defense capability of the Republic of Azerbaijan, thereby committing treason. In addition, he illegally acquired, transported, and stored firearm components.
S. Farzaliyev was detained as a result of investigative operations conducted by the State Security Service. He was charged under Articles 228.1 (illegal acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transportation, or carrying of firearms, their components, ammunition, explosives, and devices) and 274 (high treason) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
