On 3 August 2016 Baku Court of Appeal was held a court session in connection with petition for appeal of a poet Saday Shekerli, APA reports.
At session chaired by a judge J. Ramazanov was declared a sentence.
By verdict of the court the article 182.3.2, under which S. Shekerli was accused, has been replaced into the article 182.2.4. The term of his imprisonment was reduced from 10 to 5 years.
The agency notes that by decision of Baku Court on Grave Crimes S. Shekerli was imprisoned to 10 years. He is accused under article 182.3.2 (blackmail in purpose of receiving property in big size) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan Republic.
He is a member of the Writers’ Union of Azerbaijan.
