On 5 September 2016 the Baku Court on Grave Crimes has completed examination of a case on Nazrin Ibrahimli, who has been accused in human trafficking through deliver of women from Azerbaijan to UAE, haqqin.az reports.

According to court verdict, N. Ibrahimli sentenced to nine years of imprisonment. She was arrested in a court room.

The indictment on the arrested former head of the main energy and transport security department under the liquidated Azerbaijani National Security Ministry has been approved by prosecutor general in charge of preliminary investigation and sent to the Baku Military Court for consideration, APA reports with reference to the Prosecutor General’s Office statement on September 5, 2016.  

A series of investigative actions taken on the basis of numerous requests from a number of citizens and entrepreneurs revealed suspicions that the former head of the main energy and transport security department under the liquidated Azerbaijani National Security Ministry Akif Chovdarov, and the former officials of the same department Salim Mammadov, Akif Aliyev and Orkhan Mammadov, from 2005 to 2015, abused their official powers within, using technical devices for obtaining confidential data, illegally tracking phone conversations of various entrepreneurs, carrying out illegal search operations against them, by this means seizing a great deal property from entrepreneurs, threatening with use of firearms and other items against them, capturing entrepreneurs and bringing them to the ministry’s administrative building and keeping them out of touch with their families in an illegal way.

Furthermore, suspicions found out that as these persons went bankrupt after seizure of large amount of money from them; were subjected to mental and physical abuse; took a large amount of debt and credit from individuals and commercial banks to gather bail for the release from the prison; they were forced to sell movable and immovable properties at very low cost; they and their relatives faced mental and physical abuse, being threatened that they will be subjected to force arrest, detention and humiliation; they took 17,172 000 manats from 62 aggrieved persons, as well as 6,900,000 manats, jewelry and real property worth of 9,375,000 manats by robbery and intimidation, took 897,000 as bribe, abused their power and embezzled 2,917,000 allocated for official duties from the state budget .

The court ordered seizure on property and cash worth of 33,466,000, trade and service sectors, greenhouses, aquaculture farms and other property complexes, land plots worth of 8,967,000 manats, private houses, apartments and vehicles worth of 24,445,000 manats, jewelry worth of 37,000 manats belonging to the accused persons – Akif Chovdarov, Salim Mammadov, Akif Aliyev and Orkhan Osmanov to compensate damage caused to the aggrieved persons.

The accused, Akif Chovdarov, faces charges Articles 145.3 (illegal deprivation of freedom of a person, causing to the death of the victim or other serious consequences by negligence), 179.3.1, 179.3.2 (embezzlement or waste by an organized group on a large scale), 181.3.1, 181.3.2 (robbery committed by an organized group in order to seize the property on a large scale), 182.3.1, 182.3.2 (extortion, committed by an organized group in order to obtain property on a large scale), 228.4 (illegal purchase, selling or carrying of gas weapon, cold steel, including throwing weapon), 302.1, 302.2 (implementation operative – search actions by not authorized persons, as well as implementation of these actions by authorized persons, but without grounds provided by the legislation, entailed essential, and the same acts committed with use of special means, intended for secret dredging the information), 311.3.1, 311.3.2, 311.3.3, 311.3.4 (bribe-taking by a group of persons on preliminary arrangement, committed repeatedly on a large scale with the use of threats), 313 (service forgery), 341.2.1, 341.2.2, 241.2.3 (abusing authority, excess or inactivity of authority committed by a group of persons, committed with the use of weapons, resulted in grave consequences) of the Criminal Code. The other accused – Salim Mammadov, Akif Aliyev and Orkhan Osmanov are charged under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code.

The accused persons, their attorneys, the aggrieved persons, their legal heirs and representatives have already reviewed the case materials.

The investigation is underway on illegal actions of other officials of the abolished national security ministry.

Disclosed an organized criminal group

In Baku an organized criminal group has been detected, which through deception and blackmail had embezzled property and rich cars of citizens. One of the accused on the case is Y. Abdullayev, a nephew of a head of executive authority of Beylagan District, haqqin.az reports with reference to internet portal qafqazinfo and a lawyer of Adam Mammadov.

According to the lawyer, criminal case under article 178.3.2 initiated by the Police Department of Khatai District and presently investigation are going on.

3 400 bushes of hemp with total weight about three tons were destroyed in Ismayilly District, haqqin.az reports.

The plants were found in territory of district’s settlements Khanagakh and Julyan.

The bushes of wild hemp were discovered and destroyed in result of operational searching actions that were conducted by the police of Ismayilly District.

On the base of anonymous information the police of Ismayilly District was conducted operational searching actions, in result of which a person was detained. He three times from May to September 2016 was involved in illegal sale of horsemeat, APA reports.

A resident of Ismayilly town, V. Ziriyev was detained in a farm in Garabash village, when he had been trying to cut three horses. 300 kg of horsemeat were confiscated and sent Veterinary department of Ismayilly district.

Criminal case was initiated on this fact.
