On April 19, a board meeting was held at the Ministry of Internal Affairs dedicated to the results of work in the fight against crime, APA reports citing the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Minister of Internal Affairs, Colonel General Vilayat Eyvazov said that in the first quarter of 2024, work in the field of public order and security continued in cooperation with other law enforcement agencies.

Persons who provide a media entity with photographs, videos or sound recordings made during proceedings regarding an administrative offense will be fined. As APA reports, this was reflected in the proposed amendment to the Code of Administrative Offences, which was submitted for discussion at today’s meeting of the Milli Majlis.

The bill was put to a vote and adopted in the third reading.

Employees of the internal affairs bodies of Azerbaijan ensured the detection of 55 crimes registered in the country on April 18, as well as two unsolved crimes related to previous periods, Trend reports, citing information disseminated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan. It is noted that a total of 80 people who were wanted were detained (including 55 people as debtors). 32 facts related to drugs and 8 facts related to the discovery and seizure of illegally stored ammunition were revealed. 58 people were detained on suspicion of committing crimes.

In Baku, a drug courier detained by law enforcement officers was found to have 5 kg of marijuana and 3,000 methadone tablets, oxu.az reports, citing information disseminated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan.

According to information, during another event carried out by police officers, a resident of the capital, Muhammad Aliyev, who was involved in drug trafficking, was detained.

It is noted that 5 kg of marijuana enriched with psychotropic substances, as well as 3,000 methadone tablets, were found and seized from the man. According to available data, M. Aliyev was involved in drug trafficking by a citizen of Iran.

An investigation into this fact is underway.

A fraud was committed against a woman in Baku, oxu.az reports. Law enforcement agencies received information about the misappropriation of 20,000 manats from a resident of the capital by abusing her trust.

In her statement, the victim noted that about a year ago, a certain man named Anar, abusing her trust, received 20,000 manats from her, promising in return to get her a position as head of a department in one of the government bodies. However, the man did not fulfill his promise.

As a result of operational activities carried out by employees of the 9th police department of the Sabail District Police Department, 45-year-old Baku resident Anar Tairov was detained on suspicion of fraud.

An investigation into this fact is underway.
