Historical and cultural monuments destroyed by Armenians in Khankendi

During the occupation, 2,645 historical and cultural monuments were subjected to Armenian vandalism. Most of all, the monuments of the Islamic era were destroyed by the Armenians. They also wanted to destroy and appropriate our historical monuments of the Albanian period, qavqazinfo.az reports with reference to the chairman of the public association “Organization for the Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments in the Occupied Territories of Azerbaijan” Faig Ismayilov, who told İTV Xəbər that until 1920 there were no Not a single Armenian lived there.

“In the city of Khankendi there were 37 blocks, 15 of them were considered the main ones. Each of the 15 quarters, like Shusha, had its own mosques. In the city of Khankendi alone there were more than 17 mausoleums. In fact, none of them have survived to this day. All of them were destroyed by the Armenians. In total, there are more than 80 historical and cultural monuments in the city of Khankendi,” he said.

The Armenians seemed to be looking for treasures by conducting illegal archaeological excavations in our territories.
