Cyber fraudsters are conducting fake campaigns on social networks on behalf of Kapital Bank with supposed support from the Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan, oxu.az reports with reference to joint information from the Ministry of Health and the Electronic Security Service (ESS) under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport.

It is noted that through fake accounts, citizens are sent messages that Kapital Bank allegedly pays money in the amount of 200 manats to anyone who wants it. To receive funds, users are asked to go to a fake Telegram channel, where they are asked for bank card information, after receiving which cyber fraudsters steal funds from their bank accounts.

Employees of the internal affairs bodies of Azerbaijan ensured the detection of 58 crimes registered in the country on May 7, as well as 6 unsolved crimes related to previous periods, Trend reports, citing information disseminated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan.

It is noted that a total of 98 people who were wanted were detained (including 77 people as debtors). 33 facts related to drugs and 12 facts related to the discovery and seizure of illegally stored ammunition were revealed. 50 people were detained on suspicion of committing crimes.

The trial in the case of Agshin Abdullayev and his wife Leyla Abdullayeva, who were imprisoned on charges of committing large-scale fraud, has ended, oxu.az reports with reference to Qafqazinfo. The couple, accused of causing damage to five people totaling 107,000 manats, pleaded not guilty. At the Baku Court of Appeal, the defendants demanded acquittal, saying they were arrested without reason.

It is noted that the criminal case was heard in the Baku Court of Serious Crimes. By a court decision made a year ago, A. Abdullayev was sentenced to 6 years and 6 months, and L. Abdullayeva – to 5 years in prison.

After studying all the evidence, as well as hearing the parties, the higher court overturned the verdict of the trial court. The judges, chaired by Ziya Shirinov, came to the conclusion that not all facts important to the case had been proven. According to the decision, A. Abdullaev and L. Abdullaeva were acquitted. The couple were released in the courtroom.

Suspects of drug trafficking were detained in Masalli, Report informs citing the Lankaran regional press service group of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Thus, as part of an operation carried out by employees of the Masalli district police department, a resident of the district, Ramin Abiev, who had previously been convicted of theft and was suspected of drug trafficking, was detained. He was found to have 3 kg of marijuana and 1 kg of methamphetamine.

During another operational event carried out by employees of the Masalli ROP, previously convicted Ilgar Akperli and Azad Safarov, also suspected of drug trafficking, were detained. They were found to be in possession of heroin and methamphetamine.

All three were arrested by court order, the investigation into the facts continues.

Person detained on suspicion of fraud

Employees of the Shirvan City Police Department detained a resident of the capital, Sadulla Seyfullayev, on suspicion of fraud, Report informs citing the Shirvan regional press service group of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

It is noted that S. Seyfullayev, through fraud, embezzled funds in the amount of 28 thousand manats, promising the victim that he would help him in releasing a relative from prison.

A criminal case was opened in the Shirvan City Police Department, and S. Seyfullayev was arrested by court decision. Citizens who have suffered from his illegal actions can contact the police, the department indicated.
