Prosecutor General about activity of NGOs and journalists

The investigations revealed that some of NGOs operating in Azerbaijan disrespect the country’s laws. None of them is registered and avoids informing the state bodies about the grants they receive from abroad, Azerbaijani Prosecutor General Zakir Garalov told, APA reportrs.

Garalov said that those NGOs don’t sign any contract with the journalist they are cooperating with. “In case of signing contracts, they are not accredited to foreign NGOs and they receive some funds informally,” he added.

The prosecutor general urged all NGOs and journalists to respect the laws of Azerbaijan, not to violate the requirements of tax legislation, noting that in this case prosecuting agencies won’t launch investigation on them. “If they continue such acts through foreign benefactors, they would be brought to justice,” he noted.
