Azerbaijan detains about 400 wanted persons in February

Azerbaijan’s border guards detained 34 people in 22 cases who attempted to illegally cross the state border of Azerbaijan in February 2016, the State Border Service told APA on Monday.

Of them, 11 are citizens of Azerbaijan, 9 – Iran, 4 – Ghana, and 2 from each country such as Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine and 1 from each country such as Moldova, Georgia, Bangladesh and the Philippines.

Four persons were detained in two cases in the green border over violating border regime and 25 detained in 14 cases in the Caspian Sea.

As many as 391 persons wanted by law-enforcement bodies were detained and handed over to corresponding bodies during the reporting period.

The smuggling of drugs with total weight of 7.498 kilograms was prevented last month.

As a result of measures taken, the smuggling of goods totally worth about AZN 376,000 in 59 cases including a TOZ-8 rifle, a 7,62-mm bullets, 25  kilograms of gunpowder, 1 Drone, 15,636 boxes of cigarettes, AZN 30,920, 569,000 Russian ruble, 30 calves, 6 horses, different medicines, alcohol drinks, food and consumer goods was prevented.
