Court verdict against men who fought for ISIL

On 18 August 2016 the Baku Court on Grave Crimes completed the trial of two men – Anar Mahmudov and Elvin Asgarov, who fought for ISIL in Syria and Iraq.

During the process, presided over by judge Ahmad Guliyev, Anar Mahmudov was sentenced to 14 and Elvin Asgarov to 12 years in jail, APA reported.

The two men had been detained in an operation conducted by the then-existing Ministry of National Security.
