Court did not satisfy an appeal of the Azerbaijan Popular Front Party chairman’s assistant

On September 2, 2016 at the Baku Court of Appeal was considered a complaint against the court’s decision for an arrest of Faig Amirov, the assistant chairman of the Azerbaijan Popular Front Party, the Director on dissemination of the “Azadlig” newspaper, APA reports.

At the court session, presided over by Judge Hasan Ahmadov, this complaint was not satisfied.

The agency notes that F. Amirov charged under Article 283.1 (actions aimed at inciting national, racial or religious hostility, humiliation of national dignity, as well as actions aimed at restricting the rights of citizens or establishment of the superiority of citizens on grounds of their nationality or race, attitude to religion, if these acts are committed publicly or through the media) and 168.1 (creation of the group carries out activities under the pretext of proliferation of religious denominations and religious rituals and in violation of its activities public order or harmful to people’s health or violate the rights of citizens regardless the shape of the violation, as well as distracting citizens from performance of their duties established by law, as well as a management of such group or participation in it) of the Criminal Code.

By the decision of court  he was arrested for period of 3 months.
