Prosecutor General’s Office, Interior Ministry issue statement on IDPs’ attempt to hold rally in Bilasuvar

A group of IDPs from Jabrayil district, who are living in the settlements in Bilasuvar district, marched towards Jabrayil district executive authority with the request of not paying for electricity on Dec.22, 2016 at about 06:00 pm. APA reports

According to the joint statement issued by the Prosecutor General’s Office and Interior Ministry, security forces urged participants of the unsanctioned rally not to violate public order, but they didn’t obey, inflicted various injuries on 9 police officers throwing stones and sticks at them, as well as broke windows of a police car.

As a result of operative measures, illegal acts were prevented, active participants of the rally Jalal Guliyev, Ilkin Isgandarov and Gulagha Almammadov were detained.

First aid was provided to six out of the 9 injured police officers and three others were hospitalized.

The Investigation Department for Grave Crimes of the Prosecutor General’s Office launched a criminal case under the Article 186.2.2 (Deliberate destruction or damage of property), Article 233 (Organization of actions promoting infringement of a social order or active participation in such actions), and Article 315.2 (Application of the violence dangerous to life or health concerning the representative of authority in connection with performance of official duties) of the Criminal Code, investigation is underway.
