Customs officer faces trial for bribery

The preliminary investigation into the criminal case of Javid Mammadov, an employee of the Shirvanly customs post of the Northern Territorial Main Customs Department of the State Customs Committee, has been completed, oxu.az reports.

According to the information, Javid Mammadov violated the law by conducting superficial and quick checks at the post, for which he received a bribe of 240 manats and tried to get another 400 manats. He was detained by the Main Directorate for Combating Corruption under the Prosecutor General.

He was charged under articles 311.2, 311.3.2 (repeatedly receiving a bribe by an official for illegal actions (inaction) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan and a measure of restraint in the form of arrest was chosen.

The case will be considered in the Baku Grave Crimes Court chaired by Judge Ahmed Guliyev.
