An international conference dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights is being held in Baku

An international conference on the topic “Human Rights – 75 Baku Conference: promoting universality and indivisibility to solve global and national challenges” is being held in Baku, dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, organized jointly by the office of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of Azerbaijan, the UN Office in Azerbaijan and the Bar Association.

According to oxu.az, the conference is attended by the Ombudsman of Azerbaijan Sabina Aliyeva, the UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan Vladanka Andreeva, the Chairman of the Milli Majlis Committee on Human Rights Zahid Oruj, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yalchin Rafiyev, the Chairman of the Bar Association Anar Bagirov and others.

Opening the event with an opening speech, Ombudsman Sabina Aliyeva noted that the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which was adopted 75 years ago, is the basis and model for the formation of the national legislative framework of the UN member states, including Azerbaijan.

Aliyeva noted that ensuring and promoting human rights and freedoms in Azerbaijan is constantly in the spotlight, our legislative framework is being improved in accordance with international law, and ample opportunities are being created to accelerate the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
