Political scientist accused of fraud filed an appeal

Jabrail Farzaliyev, a former adviser to the chairman of the Center for International Relations Research, filed an appeal against the verdict. According to oxu.az, the complaint was filed with the Baku Court of Appeal and he asked for an acquittal. The case will be considered under the chairmanship of Judge Ziya Shirinov of the Baku Court of Appeal.

By the decision of the Baku Court of Serious Crimes, Jabrail Farzaliyev was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

It is noted that PASHA Bank OJSC and the Youth Fund of the Azerbaijan Republic were recognized as victims in the case. J. Farzaliyev is accused of stealing 385 thousand manats from the Youth Fund and 342 thousand manats from PASHA Bank.

He was charged under articles 178.3.2 (fraud committed with causing large damage), 179.3.2 (larceny on a large scale), 308.2 (abuse of official powers) and 313 (official forgery) of the Criminal Code of the Azerbaijan.
