Trial of those accused of assassination attempt on Fazil Mustafa postponed

The trial in the criminal case of those accused of attempting to assassinate Milli Majlis deputy Fazil Mustafa was supposed to continue on April 5, 2024, Report informs. At the trial chaired by Judge Elnur Nuriyev in the Baku Court of Serious Crimes, it was noted that the trial was postponed due to the failure of lawyer Sabukha Shirinov to appear at the hearing. The next court hearing is scheduled for April 26, 2024.

On March 28 last year, MP Fazil Mustafa was attacked in front of his house. As a result, F. Mustafa received gunshot wounds.

Based on the fact, the Main Investigation Department of the State Security Service opened a criminal case under Art. 277 (attack on the life of a state or public figure) and Art. 228.2.1 (illegal acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transportation or carrying of firearms, their components, ammunition by a group of persons by prior conspiracy).

Emin Aliyarov, Rashad Akhmedov, Azer Saryjanov, Elshad Askerov and Sabuhi Shirinov were detained on suspicion of committing a crime.
