The leader of an organized crime group was brought to Kazakhstan from Azerbaijan

A foreigner who served his sentence in Azerbaijan has been extradited to his country. This information was disseminated by the Prosecutor General’s Office, minval.az reports.

In accordance with the requirements of the Convention “On Legal Assistance and Legal Relations in Civil, Family and Criminal Cases” dated October 7, 2002, based on a petition from the Prosecutor General’s Office of Kazakhstan, the Prosecutor General’s Office of Azerbaijan decided to extradite for 3 months a citizen of Kazakhstan, Rinat Tursuntaevich Gabitov, who is serving a sentence in the territory of Azerbaijan.

In connection with the grounds for suspicion that, in the framework of a criminal case investigated by law enforcement agencies of Kazakhstan, R. Gabitov committed a crime related to the creation of an organized group, economic smuggling, committed repeatedly and evasion of customs duties, it was decided to involve him brought to justice as an accused and he was put on the international wanted list.

On April 10, 2024, accompanied by a special convoy of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice, R. Gabitov was handed over to employees of the authorized bodies of Kazakhstan.
