85% of crimes registered in the first quarter were solved in Azerbaijan

In the first quarter of 2024, 85 percent of the 8,930 crimes registered by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Prosecutor’s Office were solved. Minister Vilayat Eyvazov said this at a meeting of the board of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan, Trend reports.

“The number of grave and especially grave crimes committed during 3 months of 2023, related to the intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm, crimes against property, including thefts, robberies, robbery, committed using information technology, as well as unlawful acts committed by groups, persons with previous convictions, minors, crimes based on family conflict decreased compared to last year. The detection of crimes committed under unclear circumstances, related to crimes against the person, hooliganism, criminal acts against property, theft, fraud, robbery, and extortion, has improved. 1,329 kilograms of narcotic drugs were seized from illegal circulation, and 1,572 people were brought to justice for these crimes. A decrease in the number of road accidents was recorded by 12.2 percent, the number of deaths in accidents decreased by 14 people, and the number of injured by 39 people,” he noted.

Touching upon the state of ensuring the satisfaction of citizens, including the consideration of appeals, the minister noted that the results in these areas are positive, 80 percent of the material damage in the amount of 77,668,996 manats caused to citizens as a result of crimes was compensated during the investigation process.
