A pseudo-customs officer who embezzled a large sum of money sentenced

The trial in a criminal case against a person who committed large-scale fraud by posing as an employee of the State Customs Committee (SCC) of Azerbaijan has ended, oxu.az reports. In the Ganja Grave Crimes Court, a resident of the village of Bum, Gabala region, Zameddin Hajiyev (born 1996), was sentenced. He was found guilty under articles 178.3.2 (Fraud causing large damage) and 310 (Misappropriation of powers of an official) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

During the investigation, it turned out that Z. Gadzhiev, while in military service, introduced himself to his comrades as a customs officer. The man, having been demobilized, came to Baku, where he purchased the official uniform of a customs officer for 110 manats and began wearing it illegally.

Z. Gadzhiev began to introduce himself as a responsible employee of the Personnel Department and the Investigation Department of the State Customs Committee. He took money from several of his friends under the pretext of getting a job. From the victims, Z. Hajiyev received funds in the amount of 2,000, 8,600, 11,000, 28,400, 17,825, 2,920 and 37,530 manats
